Maybe it’s the slop. Or maybe it’s something you’ve observed in your kids, or in young people generally: an incuriosity, an unwillingness to question received rubrics of value, an unsteadiness of the hands.

Whatever the case, you’ve begun to doubt the wisdom of the present drive to automation. Perhaps you’ve entertained the thought that the real existential threat is that AI will make us dull.

But it’s difficult to discuss this with colleagues, or to know where to turn to refine your understanding.

The AI Study Group exists for you. Twice a month, we meet to situate our concerns in historical, anthropological, and philosophical context, anchoring the discussion in a wide-ranging syllabus of readings. In the alternate weeks, I’m available for confidential conversation.
